The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is an important organization because it is the national organization for school librarians and their communities. The AASL also provides National School Library Standards for school librarians. The National Library Standards are regulations for School Librarians. School librarians are to implement these standards in their library. The four domains for the National Library Standards are think, create, share, and grow. These standards support where students are developmentally and how the librarians are to help cultivate learners in their areas of need.

This website is effective because it provides important information to patrons who may want more information on resources, books, materials, and information in relation to the American Library Association.

The American Libraries Magazine is a great publication. There is information on its website about current trends, advocacy, issues, and other things that libraries are facing. In addition, this magazine would be a great resource because it provides a wealth of information to librarians on what is taking place in society. A major issue in society now is COVID-19. This website would be effective for librarians because it gives librarians a voice to discuss the issues that are taking place in the world and how librarians can provide resources to patrons.

Elementary Librarian is a blog that equips librarians with lessons to teach in the library. The website is essential because it provides lessons that align with the American Association of School Librarians standards and Common Core Standards from a state. In addition, the website also highlights its members and information that its members want to share in relation to school libraries. An example of information shared are books and their significance.

Epic is a large digital reading library. The website contains over 40,000 books. This website is valuable, because it provides e-books and videos for educators, students, and parents to explore. In addition, teachers and librarians may use this website as a resource for a lesson. This website is effective because it can be used for in-person and virtual instruction.

The website is funded by the Library’s Champions Program which supports the American Library Association in providing awareness to the public about libraries. The website is effective because it provides information on libraries, books, resources, and other materials that support the impact of librarians in society.

The Library of Congress is known as the world’s largest library. This library serves the United States Congress and is recognized as a cultural institution. The library consists of a catalog of books, digital collections, information on services, and programs. This website is essential because it serves the Washington, DC area and patrons across the world with information that is beneficial to the needs of its patrons.

Library Journal is a magazine for librarians. Melvil Dewey, the famous librarian, founded the magazine Library Journal. Library Journal’s website is effective, because it gives reports on professional development for librarians, libraries, and technology. In addition, the website is also effective because it highlights news reports on different library topics, books, and library events.

In addition, there is information about curated collections which includes book awards, information on books, information of communities, recognition of important days and months of the year, special collections, and more.  This website is also effective because it provides information to educators, learners, and other patrons about different books and information on collections in library science.

OverDrive is a digital library that presents different book collections. It provides collections of ebooks, magazines, audiobooks, and more. This digital library provides help to organizations and businesses, which includes public libraries, K-12 schools, business and law, higher education, and publishers. This website is effective because it serves as an online tool for searching for different books that patrons may have an interest in reading.

The Smithsonian Libraries and Archives are a system of 21 branches and archives.  The Smithsonian Libraries and Archives serves educators, researchers, and learners. This website consist of collections which includes archival materials, reference services, and history about the Smithsonian.  The Smithsonian Libraries and Archives is also an excellent website to find out more information about programs that are offered to children, teens, and educators to explore. In addition, this website is also effective because it helps provide opportunities for those individuals interested in the field of library science.

The website promotes books, displays, library advocacy, technology, and much more to support school libraries.

Resources may be shared in a library or virtual learning environment.  The website of Virginia Association of School Librarians (2021) states its mission “to be the recognized voice for excellence in Virginia’s school libraries, promoting lifelong learning and academic success of all students”.   This website is helpful because it provides professional development, support, networking to organizations, and opportunities to become a leader in schools.

The website WorldCat is the world’s largest library catalog. WorldCat dislplays millions of items to search for which includes books, DVDS, CDs, and articles. It is a catalog that displays information of collections of items from many libraries across the world. This website is a great tool to use when accessing information on books and materials online from different libraries.

The Young Adult Services Association (YALSA) organization is important because it provides assistance to librarians so that they may help teenagers face their challenges. YALSA helps equip librarians with the resources and information to assist teens with academics, developments in career, personal growth, and many learning opportunities. The organization also provides for librarians to help cultivate a teens learning experiences through information, technology, and advocacy. YALSA is an organization that advocates for teens.
