The Collection Development Project was an environmental scan on Chesterfield County and Chester Public Library. The environmental scan addressed the population in Chesterfield County, the mission and vision of Chester Public Library, Chesterfield County Public Schools, and the programs that are offered in the community. Most importantly, the environmental scan focuses on the demographics of an area. The demographics of an area helps librarians provide books, resources, and materials that are of interest to patrons. In addition, the information from the collection of demographics environmental scan also helps school librarians decide on what resources that should be available in the library for students to explore.
