Artifacts
This is a reflection for my Spanish 102 course. I feel like I was able to comprehend visually and writing than through my verbal and listening comprehension abilities. This course was exciting to take and I enjoyed learning the language. Going more in depth added more value to my education and knowledge of Spanish. Learning the commands, present tense, and past tense added more vocabulary. It also enriched my understanding of Spanish.

Within this assignment I was supposed to create an ad for a sport. I made my ad about Tennis and I created it to look like a Tennis Club ad. I feel like I met the expectations for the assignment with errors. I realize my work isn’t going to be perfect but I always try my best. I gave details about where and when it’s at. Also what to bring and who can come.

This assignment I was to create another ad or information description of any psychical or mental illness of my choice. Describe the symptoms and preventions this illness needs. I chose influenza. I wrote about the symptoms and preventions to take of the virus. I also gave information on where to go to ask questions.

From this assignment I was to describe a recipe or dish I liked. I chose my favorite dish to eat and make oven roasted chicken and potatoes. I created my assignment as if it was a blog or recipe found or posted online. I talked about which ingredients were necessary for this dish and how to prepare it. I had grammatical errors but overall, I understood what was expected and met the requirements for this assignment.
Exploring Culture
Within this course we used two products LingroLearning and TalkAbroad. LingroLearning has our homework, virtual textbook, and lessons that were outside the physical classroom. These products helped me understand the language outside classroom environment. It consistently put my knowledge and comprehension to its limits. My auditory skills have improved and but also declined. With more vocabulary gained throughout this course is an ongoing battle because that leads to more descriptions, more words, and different contexts in speech. With that its longer and you have to retain as many words as possible or at least pick up on a few to help connect knowledge to what’s being said.
Engaging in Communities
The importance of engaging in the global community is not only important to your perspective but it makes you think about issues that aren’t actively happening to to you or your community so, it makes you think about how it could. How it could be impacted. It adds importance to what changes could be made or differences in how problems are executed or solved. It makes you think about things other than yourself.
Interpersonal Communication
In my opinion I didn’t do well in my TalkAbroad. It was a struggle for me to comprehend what was being said or asked. I know that will come with the language I’m happy I did it. My progress and journey is different than others. I felt I grew from the conversation because I was able to effectively communicate with someone outside my classroom that sort of understood what I was saying. It is necessary in development because talking to others learning the language as well know we need to have that fluent experience outside the professor. It was fun talking and meeting with a stranger.
Presentational Speaking
This semester my presentational speaking was the TalkAbroad, class discussions, and the final oral exam. I overcame my challenges with certain pronunciations. I think my accent and attempts of annunciation is still tremendously bad. I still make French/Spanish mistakes. But, other than practicing there isn’t much more I can do.
Presentational Writing
My examples of presentational writing from this course were the Proyecto’s. They are found in my archive. I feel as though my writing improved the most out of everything else. I did really good. It was easier to write after taking Spanish 101. I’m glad I took it immediately after and didn’t wait.
Interpretive listening
I only listened to audio from contrasena to help me with this course. It helped grow me as a student. I think my skills improved slightly for listening. Like I said before as the vocabulary lengthens its a pro and also a con. It makes descriptions and sentence’s longer so holding attention to all the audio or recordings makes it more challenging.
Interpretive Reading
From the textbook we were able to read letters, emails and text messages all in Spanish. My comprehension grew from reading. It was easier to spot descriptor words like adjectives and verbs. It made the context easier to decipher. I found the meaning or bigger idea much faster than last semester.
