I was born in Cape Canaveral, Florida and lived there for 16 years until my family and I moved up North to be closer to family. My earliest memories are of sunshine, clear skies and blue, sparkling horizons that seemed to stretch out to the sacred ends of the Earth, herself. Yes, I have a deep and appreciative love for the great blue depths of the sea. Both of my parents served in the Navy, my mother for 12 years and my father for 24. After my father retired from the service, he decided that it was best to settle down, as close as he could, to his great love, the sea. As for myself, I spoke of heroes within my family who have served in numerous services, countries and conflicts stretching back to World War 1. The latest being my uncle who was in Tower 1 with Rescue 5 out of Manhattan, on the tragic morning of September 11, a morning which changed the world entirely. He and the rest of his firehouse all made the supreme sacrifice that day. Their remains were never recovered. Having been raised and influenced within this circle, it has been my life’s mission to follow in those same footsteps of which they once walked. Especially that of my Uncle Andre, whom I seek to emulate within the way in which he lived and gave his life in the service of his fellow man. A proud firefighter to the somber end.

I come from a long line of heroes who insisted they were ordinary people.
