Journal Entry 14

In my opinion, I believe that the first serious violation of Slynchuk is collection information about children. It should be explainable but as soon as I saw it as an option, I knew it was one of the five most serious violations. It is sad to say that it is a practice of certain individuals on this planet but to me it is utterly disgusting. Letting kids use the internet is so dangerous especially social media because how easy it is for someone to stalk and collect information of children.

The second most serious violation from the list is I would say is recording a VoIP call without consent. That is a federal law, one participant from the conversation must give permission to be recorded. I purposely know that it would bother me and upset me knowing that someone I talked to over the phone recorded the entire conversation.

The third most serious violation on the list would be using other people’s internet networks. There are stores and even companies who provide a public internet network for people within the building to use. That is perfectly fine, but the act of hacking or bypassing someone’s private home internet network is an invasion of privacy and very weird. Getting into a person’s internet network could give that person access to all the phones connected taking private information. I would say that is a serious violation.

The fourth most serious violation to me on this list would be using copyrighted images especially without credit. I would say this violation is serious because there are people out there that take other people’s work for their own benefit. I don’t understand how people think that is okay at all. It gets serious when peoples hard work gets taken and that person who all they did was steal work get all the credit and revenue.

The fifth and last most serious violation out of 11 on this list would be faking your identity online. There are people online that pose as other people for information and money. There are people every day that get tricked into sending money or even giving up their information. Being gullible plays a part and not being aware but all that blame can’t be put on someone because they were tricked. It is not legal at all to fake their identity and steal from other people for benefits.
