Project Management
In this course, Project Management, I learned the value of maintaining difficult project goals and requirements through effective planning, tasks coordination, and making rational decisions that are vital when executing plans for the project. During the first two weeks of this class, we form a groups of six people in or outside the class in forming a group project in gaining experience and knowledge of project management. For this course project, I work with my colleagues in my fluid mechanics course where we create a prototype created for elementary students that requires strategic management and planning skills for them to learn about the fundaments in Engineering.
After working on the project while learning important facts about project management for a couple of months, I absorb interesting knowledge when managing project. However, when working on the project, were many problems in determining who is in charge to send information to our supervisors and deciding what type of prototype should we build that demonstrate true aspects to real-world engineering that would be interest for elementary students to learn more in that field. From this disaster, we have some tasks that needs to have extended time for each to be completed that will also cause the project’s progress completion to slow down. From this struggle, me, my group, and our supervisors have a meeting to discuss on how do we tackle these tasks while completing them before their initial deadline by adding each of our names on how in charge of each tasks that can easily breakdown the weight work for our project.
In some point in the class, we have to form a project plan that details the project’s goals, team members positions, competed tasks, risks analysis, and timeline charts that deviates things that needs to ensure that the project goes as planned and completed before the deadline its closure.
From this experience in this course, I learned that being a project manager is both crucial and difficult position that requires leadership and absolute understanding of any situation that must handled with the fullest attention even the smallest. As a engineer, I must acquired this leadership skills to make sure that I’ll can handled major responsibility in conducting research and develop stage of a project as well as managing budget for the company’s equipment and staffing when I planning a design product for a certain project within the workplace.
