I have lived here in Virginia beach, VA my whole life. I love to travel and take pictures. My hobbies includes taking pictures of clouds, doing puzzles and then gluing them so I don’t have to put them together again, and spending time with my family. I have an amazing boyfriend whom we have been together for more than 8 years. I have two handsome young sons who I greatly admire and adore as they are the light of life and I’m expecting another baby due this fall.

I have had many jobs where I wasn’t happy and for the longest time I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I grew up. When I was young, I wanted to be an astronaut, a veterinarian, a construction worker, a race car driver, and so much more. I had big dreams to do so many amazing things, but when life happens such as having kids, and working to make ends meet, my dreams quickly faded away. Sometimes I am still undecided as finding the right job and where I belong. After I had my second son I decided to go back to school. I explored my options at Tidewater Community College and took a variety of classes to obtain my Associates in Social Science. Most of my classes were psychology based, but I am not wanting to go into psychology. I want to work with families and adolescents working within the Human Services field and that is my major here at ODU. I want to help children and teens who are in trouble and help their parents and families understand them. I want to help families come together not fall apart. I thought about being a school guidance counselor, which could still be a potential possibility, but being behind a desk is not for me. Paperwork and computers aren’t going to solve anybodies problems any faster sitting behind a desk. I want to be out in the field, or work in hospitals where I can socialize and interact with families and work specifically with adolescents and be the support they need. I was bullied throughout my whole school career except college. So I understand what it’s like to be humiliated and let down. I think to understand and get through to kids today, you have to know where they are coming from or have been where they are. Taking this course I hope to better myself in a social aspect as I am an extremely shy person. Also while taking this course in hopes to better understand how vital it is to be social and interact with different kinds of people from different backgrounds.

Hello my name is Amber Link.
