Reflections on the semester

This semester I had the great opportunity to take the CYSE 270 “Linux System for Cybersecurity” course and learn through zoom classes, which brought with me an assortment of opportunities and challenges. Despite my initial concerns, I discovered that this method of instruction gave me a flexible schedule and allowed me to get deeper into the subjects at my own pace. Learning various different aspects of cybersecurity, but at the forefront was learning more about the Ubuntu and Kali Linux programming languages, which have shown to be quite useful in the realm of cybersecurity, was one of the highlights of this semester.

Learning about Kali Linux and Ubuntu has opened my eyes. The cybersecurity field uses multiple programming languages extensively, and understanding them has given me a wide range of possibilities to expand my knowledge of these languages.Furthermore, I now have an advantage in the cybersecurity industry because of the knowledge I learned in this course. Due to the widespread usage of Ubuntu and Kali Linux in system and network security, employers place a high value on these competencies. My practical skills from this semester will definitely help me in my future profession because they precisely match the expectations of the field.

The entire class, aside from the subject content, was outstanding. Throughout the semester, it was clear how knowledgeable, patient, and willing to help my professor was about the labs, in-class work, and any other questions or concerns myself or classmates would have. The lesson was interesting and educational because of the flexibility in adjusting to the

online learning environment and their delivery of the lectures and interactive in-class participation assignments. The instructor’s readiness to respond to questions and offer more help made the class’s atmosphere so great and it didn’t make anyone feel like they couldn’t ask questions. Through asking questions and the professor staying after once the class ended for conversations about providing upcoming assignments, the class promoted a sense of community despite the geographical distance. Listening to the afterclass conversations and my classmates’ questions gave me an opportunity to see things from their viewpoints and absorb their experiences . The friendly atmosphere in the class promoted engagement and made sure that everyone had the chance to learn and advance.

In conclusion, my career in cybersecurity will greatly benefit from this semester’s  zoom classes and the chance to learn about Ubuntu and Kali Linux. My education and practical skills have put me in a strong position to succeed in this subject professionally. In addition, the lesson was great overall, with a committed teacher and a cooperative setting. I am appreciative of the opportunity and eager to use the knowledge I have gained in the future.
