I now had to create multiple users, assign them to different groups based on their role, and give them file permissions. Also, I used <strong>sudo useradd -m -s \/bin\/bash<\/strong> to create the users. After the users and groups were set up, <strong>sudo chmod 770<\/strong>, <strong>chgrp<\/strong>, and <strong>umask<\/strong> were used to carry out the task of delegating permissions. These permissions included read, write, and access (ex: rwxrwx).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to all the moving parts, I constantly had to undo actions and clear the terminal. Figuring out how to use <strong>umask<\/strong> and the <strong>octal method<\/strong> was especially difficult. Also, I had to delete and remake files because I forgot which user I was under. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these issues, I successfully learned about file permissions and how they are important when delegating groups\/roles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This lab returned to group and user management but added a layer of complexity.
