My name is Lauryn Jones and I am a junior majoring in English with a concentration in Education at Old Dominion University. I have been enrolled in Spanish classes beginning all the way since my eighth grade year! I have always loved the language and culture of Spanish speaking countries, therefore I find it very interesting to learn about the various aspects of them. I believe that it is imperative to at least know enough of another language to be able to use it if needed, especially in our extremely diverse society. I have worked in a diverse middle school located in Norfolk for two years now, and it has made me realize just how helpful it is as an educator to have knowledge of the Spanish language. I also worked with English Language Learner students over the summer, which was extremely enriching for me to be able to use my Spanish skills to understand and speak with my students when their English skills were lacking. I truly have loved getting to learn so much about the Spanish language and culture and I cannot believe this is my last Spanish course!
