Learning Style

My current study habits include writing everything down repeatedly and highlighting material. I am the type of person who remembers things better once I have physically written and repeated them. In class, I write down the notes before I get to class, so I just have to add to them based on things the professor says during the actual class time. Outside of class, I highlight the notes I took, and reread over them so it really sinks in. I am doing quite well in Music history. I do well in Music because I study nightly and write down all the notes from the PowerPoints before I get to class. It is easier to picture the information if I have previously written down the facts. I find chemistry challenging. I plan to study for three hours a week, that means one hour for each time I have the class. I go to office hours once a week to really get a better understanding of things that we cover in class. I think spending more time covering overall concepts instead of memorizing smaller themes will be a better way for me to grasp better understanding. For the previous exam I just took in chemistry, I studied all my notes, and I went to study group a few days before the exam. My motivation to study is very high, as I really want a strong GPA. My exam preparation helped me a lot. I made sticky notes of all the most challenging concepts, and when I had felt I learned them sufficiently, I would crumple up my sticky note. Next exam, I need to remember to not get so stressed that it effects how well I can study. I tend to get very stressed about tests, and sometimes I forget what I know. I have not gotten my exam grade back, but so far in the class I have an A, so I hope my methods will help me sustain that. I think that using Tutor.com would be such a beneficial resource for getting help at anytime that I need it, especially on weekends. I also enjoyed watching the video on how to be a helpful and meaningful member of a study group. I learned that I should look over all my notes before study group, and not wait for the study group to start to begin reviewing.
