Writing Reflection One- All throughout UNIV 150, I have had many ups and downs. First off, I never knew about some of the ways I had to write when I entered this class. I basically threw my old techniques that wouldn’t work in college out the window for the new and improved ones that apparently are used in this class. For example, I used to use “you” a lot instead of “a person” or “him or her” or “his or hers”. I’ve learned quite a lot already about writing in this class. I have also learned that certain word choice can get you a good amount of point towards your final total for an essay or assignment. Also I’ve learned that “sense of time” is a key aspect to the body of a paper. If I wrote about past events by using today’s information, how would the paper make any sense at all? This UNIV 150 class taught me to change that by keeping the topic and information in one time period. Another thing UNIV 150 taught me was the documentation methods for sourcing articles. MLA, APA, what was that? But in this class, I learned, I learned big time, why these seriously matter when writing papers. But some bad things have occurred in the classroom, me getting bored after a while of lecturing is one, but the content isn’t really excited in this class. If a students wants to pass this class, he or she would have to really pay attention to the course and content. In conclusion, though it seems to get boring, you still are able to achieve the quality of college writing. One learns the qualities and the ways one can write fluidly, one can succeed in writing. It is a great talent for anyone to write greatly. Even the best authors had to correct their mistakes somewhere. I corrected most of mine here at ODU in this class of UNIV 150.

Question: What do you as a student risk when you are submitting a writing assignment?
Many aspects could be risky when submitting a writing assignment. Hey, doing anything in life could be a risk. You risk the professor criticizing your paper in a wrong way. He or she might find some mistakes when checking. You also risk how a teacher may think of you. Sure this may be a myth, but it is a common stress-or for all Writing students. The teacher may also take too long to grade, so you are at risk for your time.

I have given much thought to the transitions that will take place over the span of my first semester. I realized that playing a club sport may conflict with my homework schedule. I’ll have little time for my assignments. I’ll need to transition to a much better stage of time management.

The image of Old Dominion University I had in mind while applying was that it was a massive school. I also thought that there were many groups of people pout to make me fail. I was wrong, everyone was super nice that I met and my professors so far don’t want me to fail.

If I had to pick an approach that best aligned with mine, I’d say Marie’s and Eduardo’s. I want to get all A’s and do my best in classes, but I also really want a place to relax while I am in college at the same time. Marie was smart, so am I, Eduardo loves to have breaks to do things, so do I. It is quite hard to choose.

It is a quite unusual topic of discussion, but is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable? According to a recent Supreme Court case, the average tomato is legally a vegetable because the taxes are higher for veggies and not fruits (for some odd reason). So the U.S. Government would make more money than if it was legally ruled a fruit. But scientifically, a tomato is a fruit.
