I believe the accessibility, accuracy, privacy, and property are the biggest issues of storing information of a person. The accessibility and privacy I think being the most important of the four. Accessibility is about who can see this information. Though when it comes to people’s information especially in a business platform, customers will give you their information based on an agreement that it will not be accessed by anyone but themselves and those authorized. Meaning breaches in security break that promise and it would be up to the business to thoroughly make sure said information is safe because things like a person’s social security number or credit card information being leaked could lead to major issues and harm.
As for privacy, we are making sure everything is confidential and that things that should not be seen by unauthorized personal stays unseen. Which means making sure systems and security is upkept and maintained. Making a security system is not enough, constantly analyzing and a system and its capabilities under potential threats should be kept in mind. Accuracy mainly pertains to one’s information is correct and consistent. For example, the credit card information and address of person should be kept accurate in things like online banking and online shopping. Other wise things wont go through smoothly and cause inconveniences.
Finally, the information property status is a bit of a special top because its things like someone’s credit card info should only really have one owner though people like Amazon have and hold that information in their systems. They don’t necessarily own the information but are a host to it. So, when things like cyberattacks take place it is the fault of the company not the individual for not protecting that information.
I believe that cybersecurity risk in the US is compared to other countries are one of the prime targets for cyberattacks because our society is almost enterally based on the internet in comparison to a country like Japan which is still a mostly paper based country. Though other countries like China, and England face the same issues and risk with cyber threats.
