I am interested in cybersecurity as a major because I would like to work close to computers and the security of our computers interests me. In addition, I also would like to work in a place that gives me clearance, or more specifically I can work in the government because most of my family member already do, and I would like to follow in their footsteps. I would also like to learn more of the process of protecting, creating, and implementing new security measures for our software’s or computers.
Cybersecurity is intertwined with other majors like Engineering, Computer Science, Criminology, and Business. Engineers deal with the physical systems and infrastructure that we would use. Business majors would learn about insurance of information and how they would go about securing their information in business. Computer science majors would learn and work on the steps would take to protect our software and hardware, and Criminology would deal with how criminals think and the process of cybercrimes. All these majors are connected to one another and proves that cybersecurity is a very important and deep issue that concerns everyone in society. All these majors work closely together to solve the problem of security and information being secured.I think personally that it’s a very cool way to look at cyber security as a whole and drives home the importance of more people being aware of these issues. So again, I take this class not only for the money and the prestigious degree but because it can affect me personally and my country, I would like to see how I can protect myself and others from these issues. It is even more important now because of how intertwined our society is with the internet and how easy it is to show, research, and acquire information.
