With the rise of use of technology in the workplace this has created an oppurtunity even more workplace deviance. This can characterized as something small and harmless or even escalate into something harmful and malicious. For example an employee could spend all of their time at work looking at youtube on the clock. This simple act does not put anyone’s life at danger, but could be seen as waste and abuse because the said employee is eating up company hours. We could take this a step up an imagine an employee bringing in an Xbox and connecting to the company network in order to play Xbox live on the overnight shift. Although this seems harmless, the employee has now inadvertently exposed the network to threats. As mentioned before, a more malicious and skilled threat actor could use the organizations network as a bot net for his personal use. This botnet army could be used to crack facebook passwords all day while the company is none the wiser. Another oppurtunity for work place deviance invovling cyber technology could a morally bankrupt systems admin accessing an employee’s personal files and using his social security to apply for a credit card! Conclusively, many horros can come about from the implementation and use of cyber technologies in the workplace and organizations must put in to place safe gaurds in order to deter would be disgruntled employees and fraudsters.
