Social Media Disorder Scale

I have actually never heard of the Social Media Disorder scale until today and it is an interesting little survey. Personally I use social media but compared to my friends and peers, I upload and stay on social media a lot less than my group. Most of the questions that I answered did not relate to negative feelings and that correlation being social media use. I am the type of person that likes to keep up with what my friends are doing so my overall emotion while using Instagram or Snapchat is mostly positive. The questions that I answered yes to were all about time management with social media. Specifically, “During the past year, have you tried to spend less time on social media, but failed? During the past year, have you regularly had no interest in hobbies or other activities because you would rather use social media? During the past year, have you often used social media so you didn’t have to think about unpleasant things” ? I think this is because I use social media as a way to turn off my brain sometimes. I can admit that I am not the best with time management so sometimes I change my schedule around being on Twitter too much or replying back on Snapchat. With how I think different patterns are found across the world are based on time exposed to social media. I think that the more time you spend on social media the more chances that you can have negative or aggressive interactions with other users. I like to relate it to car insurance. The more time you spend on the road the higher chance you have of getting into an accident.
