I think the way that Davin started his career in the cybersecurity space is very unique. He started in the early 2000’s. In that time he stated that he didn’t have traditional courses or schooling to propel him into digital forensics. It was an important time in the tech field because this was the start to the dot com bubble. So during this time he was an accountant by profession but was put into the digital forensics field. He then stated that his job was also looking for people to help out with their IT department. After he agreed, they taught him and he continued to learn on his own. I think that it is more common nowadays that people of all professions transition into the cyber field. First and main reason is the ability to obtain entry level jobs without a four year degree. Most companies look for that but also take certifications for the profession as well. I think that most job recruiters are looking for job experience and each company that uses any kind of technology will be dependent on IT professionals to help manage it. Secondly, they pay well and the current shortage in the field makes securing a job fairly simple depending on the city. His ability to take risks and jump at opportunities that might be scary at first is very inspiring. He probably dedicated his early life and education to accounting. Accounting is a safe and secure job with dependable upward mobility but he took the risk and pursued a career that peaked his interest.
