Logan Woolcock: Norfolk Admirals
The process of finding a sports penpal was relatively easy for me. Last semester, my roommate interned in communications with the Norfolk Admirals hockey team. She spent a lot of time working on ways to increase game attendance and fan engagement. She also worked with staff on social media content ideas and just all-around game day operations. I told her about this assignment, and although she doesn’t intern there anymore, she offered to reach out to Mr. Woolcock to ask if he would be willing to be my penpal for the semester. He graciously agreed, and my roommate gave me all relevant contact information that I would need.
From there, I personally reached out to Mr. Woolcock thanking him for his time and willingness to be involved in this assignment. In my text message to him, I made sure to briefly introduce myself and explain the purpose of the assignment. I then asked him a few personal questions to get to know him better and understand his journey in the sports industry.
Logan Woolcock is the Sales and Operations Coordinator for the Norfolk Admirals. He graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University in May of 2023 where he got a degree in Business Administration. He started working for the Admirals following his graduation and quickly worked his way into a management position. In his current role, he’s involved in various aspects of sales, operations, and supporting the overall success of the team with a focus on growing their presence in the community.
I’m looking forward to learning from Mr. Woolcock’s experience, especially how he navigated the transition into the sports industry immediately after graduation. This connection is a great opportunity for me to understand the business (and communications) side of sports, and I’m excited to see how I can apply his experience to my own career path!
