As an educator, I will prepare my students with tools and motivation to help them become successful contributors to society. I will teach my students how to develop skills which will help them work through any situation they are presented with not only in education, but also their career and life. I will help my students feel proud and accomplished. I will dedicate myself to caring for my students and their educational needs.
I expect my students to be critical thinkers and active learners. I will teach my students to problem solve and formulate their own ideas. I feel this expectation helps students feel empowered and encouraged.
I facilitate student learning primarily from a hands-on approach. I use evidence-based, didactic clinical teaching techniques. I have experience as a clinical education intern. I had the opportunity to work with first year and second-year dental hygiene students. Taking time and identifying each student’s unique learning style helps me to tailor my teaching style so it is most beneficial to the student. In doing so, this helps me connect with the student and maximize their learning potential. I want my students to seek guidance if needed yet be self-motivated and facilitate their learning. Spending quality time with students and watching them critically think through a situation is important. I aspire to inspire my students in their education.
As an aspiring dental hygiene educator, I plan to continue learning so I can provide the most effective learning opportunities for my future students. I will maintain current continuing education on various topics and use resources such as research journals. I am a patient, passionate, flexible, and dedicated educator. I am a good multi-tasker and facilitate an effective learning environment. I have experience as an educator in the clinical environment, as well as didactic community education. I have my students’ best interest in mind.
