Entrepreneurship

Description: This entrepreneurship course is designed to help students enhance their personal and professional development through innovations. This course offers ODU students an amazing opportunity to integrate disciplinary theory and knowledge through developing any innovation between non-profits and small businesses. Entrepreneurship encourages students understand how academic knowledge leads to transformations, innovations, and solutions to different types of problems. This course also helps growing entrepreneurs learn about different aspects of businesses and legalities that are crucial to the success of any innovation.

Throughout the semester we were required to keep daily/weekly logs of our entrepreneurship understanding and efforts. This “innovation diary” as I call it, is also referred to as Journal Entires. To read these entires, click on the button below!

Our Innovtion for an official Cybersecurity Education Curriculum

Technology has always been a huge part of my life and I have always loved being up to date with the newest devices. This is a common story for most people who are born or have grown up during the 21st century. For this reason, now more than ever we need to take cybersecurity as seriously as it is. The use and dependence on technology are at an all-time high and we need to ensure kids and young adults who use this technology every day, know how to use it safely. Our group, consisting of myself, Sarah Noble, and Rahilkumar Patel, decided to concentrate on this lack of cybersecurity knowledge in middle schools and high schools and have created the outline for a cybersecurity curriculum. In this curriculum, we will focus on educating these students on the importance of safe device use and internet use as well. They will learn how to create effective passwords, see red flags on phishing emails and scam emails, become educated on the risks and possibilities of what could happen if they were hacked on a social media account, and so much more.

Below are a few photos of our group during a brainstorming collaboration as well as some graphs to show some of the research we have collected.

5 internet and cybersecurity-related questions were asked to a group, totaling 15 middle school and high school students ranging in age from 12-16.

1. Do you know what cybersecurity is?

2. Do you use the same password for different social media accounts?

3. Do you use technology daily while in school or for school work?

4. Have you ever been a victim of an account hack or scam email or know someone who has?

5. Have you been taught about technology safety in school on a regular basis?
