Looking at my own social media persona through the platform of Instagram, I would say that I have given the projection of a lifelong athlete. I am not someone who just plays sports, but someone who lives them. I have posted photos of myself playing sports such as basketball, softball, and field hockey since I was a young girl. Sharing this on my social media account tells a story of growth, evolution, and consistency throughout my lifetime. This shows that athletics aren’t just a phase for me, but they are part of my identity.
My instagram profile’s first sports post begins in 2020 where I am playing softball. If you look into my tagged photos, the first one related to athletics is in 2018. Throughout the next 8 years you can really see the sports that I have tried, how I’ve changed, and how sports have shaped who I am. With the variety of different sports I have taken part in, it shows that I am very adaptable as a person. A long timeline of athletic involvement implies dedication and work ethic. At the same time, with how the posts are presented throughout the past 8 years, it gives a more authentic feel. It shows that this is my passion.
The very first post you will find on my instagram profile for athletics is from my freshman year of high school in 2018. In this photo I have just received my first varsity letter after finishing and being a varsity starter for my high school field hockey team. This was a huge accomplishment, and just the beginning of what was to come.
The first posts that I personally made in athletics were from the summer of 2020. In these posts I am playing softball. The caption for the photo is “Finally back”, which is referring to being back from an injury. You can see in the posts that I have a knee brace on and this shows my resilience and commitment to come back and do what I love, despite the challenges and setbacks I may experience.

Fast forward to my senior year of high school where you can find a post announcing that I have committed to play field hockey in college at Old Dominion University. This is another big milestone in my timeline.

In my tagged photos, you can find posts from my senior basketball season in high school. These posts just show the versatility that I have and how involved I was in so many different athletic programs.

Moving ahead to college, you can find posts from 2022 (my freshman year), 2024 (my junior year), and 2025 (my senior year) playing field hockey. We didn’t receive media day photos my sophomore year so I didn’t post in 2023 unfortunately. These posts just show how I, as a person, have grown and changed, but still have the same passion and commitment to the sport that I love.
I have many more posts in between that just show different accomplishments that I have had personally or my team overall has had through my career at Old Dominion. Some posts show the rings that we received for being Regular Season Champions in 2022 for the Big East Conference and then in 2023 when we won the Big East Conference Tournament. My tagged post also shows photos and other information throughout my field hockey career at ODU.
The visual timeline found on my instagram profile and the posts made can be seen as inspiring for some. It shows longevity, commitment, and that I have a very active lifestyle. It shows that I have a deep love for athletics and love to compete. On top of that it shows that I really do choose to do and follow the things that make me happy and that I truly enjoy.
