I currently consume most of my sports information through social media or my friends. I also do watch some games live on television, but I usually only do that for some of my favorite teams or big events such as the Super Bowl or the Olympics that are currently taking place. I really like to watch the competition live and see how things play out, but I do sometimes struggle to be fully engaged if it isn’t a sport or team that I am interested in. The teams that I like to keep up with are ODU, Penn State football because I have always grown up in a family of huge Penn State fans, and then the United States National Field Hockey team. On Instagram, I follow all of these teams’ social media accounts. This allows me to stay up to date with any big news going on within each organization as I go on Instagram every day. I feel like this is where I get most of my information for these teams outside of watching the games live. Outside of that, I talk sports with some of my friends where they give me a lot of information as well. This information usually consists of teams outside of my favorites, so this definitely helps broaden my knowledge of the things going on in the whole sports world. I would say one of the people that currently provides me with the most information is my boyfriend because he is always watching some kind of sport and knows so much about different players and teams.

This is not how I have always consumed my sports knowledge. I would say about 5 years ago, I really wasn’t as engaged with watching or being up to date with sports news as I am now. I was more into just playing the sports and not on others playing them or being involved. The only way I really consumed information on sports before college was through my family. In high school, I was living with them so I gained knowledge when games would be on television or, mainly my dad, would be talking about it. I would say I am a lot more educated now than I used to be.

Looking into the future, I feel that I will be even more knowledgeable about sports and the things going on within them because of how much the media is growing. I also feel that more recently I have been more engaged and interested in learning what is going on in the sport world. I also feel that once I am really working in a sports environment every day with my future career that I will be driven to gain knowledge in the sports world.

My sport media diet has been pretty consistent over the past four years.
