I then decided that my patient was going to be my step-mother and that I was going to go through a total hysterectomy discharge teaching with her. Being in the post-anesthesia care unit for my role transition, I need to do discharge teaching to patients and their family members, and I thought that doing the same for this assignment would give me practice for my clinical days. I made sure to research important hysterectomy discharge instructions and practice before meeting with the patient.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reason for Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio: <\/strong>I included this assignment in my portfolio because it demonstrates my ability to provide effective patient care through telehealth appointments. It also shows that I can have positive patient interactions without interruptions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Domain 8 Informatics and Healthcare Technologies<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>End of program learning outcome 38: Uses informatics to enhance one\u2019s own knowledge base to provide patient centered care and support teaching. (Domain 8) (8.1, 8.5)\n<ul>\n<li>Creating this video allowed me to learn more about what it takes to complete a telehealth appointment. I made sure I had all the information I needed for the patient in front of me, as getting up would have been inappropriate. I also ensured the patient was in a place where they felt comfortable discussing their current health status. My patient was one week post-op for a hysterectomy, so I educated her on things like infection control and activity.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End of program learning outcome 39: Demonstrates skills in using technology, informatics, and communication devices to deliver care using remote technology. (Domain 8) (8.1, 8.5)<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In this assignment, I demonstrated my skills using technology, informatics, and communication devices by conducting a Zoom appointment with my patient.
