If you are the CISO for a publicly traded company. What protections would you implement to ensure the availability of your systems (and why)?
As the CISO for our publicly traded company, my top priority would most likely be to keep our systems up and running smoothly. Here are things I would consider;
Backup and Redundancy: We’d have backup systems in place, like spare servers, so if one fails, we can switch over quickly.
High Availability: Critical systems will be set up to work all the time, even if there are problems with one part. This means our services stay online.
DDoS Protection: We’d use tools to fend off large-scale cyberattacks that could crash our systems.
Access Control: Only authorized people would have access to important systems. This keeps them safe from potential mishaps
Monitoring and Learning: Constantly keeping an eye on our systems for any unusual activity and staying updated on new threats.
By doing these things, I would ensure that the systems stay available, and the business keeps running smoothly.

Based on your readings related to the BioCybersecurity section of this course, identify possible ethical considerations and explain your position.
When we dive into the world of biosecurity, one thing becomes crystal clear “ethics take center stage”. We want to keep everyone safe from potential threats, but we also need to respect individual rights and freedoms. It’s a fine balance. Let’s picture this, safeguarding the privacy and consent of individuals regarding their genetic data is absolutely crucial, and that’s why we’ve got these strict rules in place. Then there’s this whole thing about dual-use research. It’s like a double-edged sword – it can be used for both good and not-so-good stuff. So, we’re always on our toes, keeping a close eye on it and making sure we play by the ethical rulebook. So, as we navigate this maze of biosecurity challenges, it all boils down to finding that sweet spot. Having open discussions about what’s ethical is the way forward. After all, I believe it is for the greater good of society.

How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?
You know, with all the technology we use at work, it’s become a lot easier for employees like us to get involved in some not-so-great activities. One of the big concerns is data theft and corporate espionage. We can easily copy and share sensitive company information with competitors or other unauthorized folks. This not only jeopardizes the organization’s security but also puts its reputation on the line. It’s a pretty significant risk we should all be aware of in the digital age. That’s why it’s crucial for our company to have strong cybersecurity measures and monitoring in place to keep things safe. Cyber technology has also created opportunities to prevent data theft and corporate espionage through security awareness training and continuous monitoring, organizations are able to prevent that.
