CYSE/IT 200
Realizing that you have a limited budget, how would you balance thetradeoff of training and additional technology? Explain your reasoning
- During this week’s reading of “The impact of human behavior on security” and “Why is cyber security about human behavior”, I learned how human behavior and technology go hand and hand, and also benefit cybersecurity. Having human centered vision on cybersecurity can provide new ways to detect risks and vulnerabilities for effective threat prevention. Human interaction can also provide a better way of having effective communication which can also improve forms of security. Now, on the contrary having human involvement can also be a problem in regard to cybersecurity. As human we are prone to making mistakes as well as not noticing detail, and in the field of cybersecurity there is no room for mistakes and detail is important. By removing humans entirely and including transparency and automation is the most effective way to truly protect and prevent data leaks. Taking both of these points in perspective the way that I would balance the tradeoff of training and additional technology would be to determine which aspect is more beneficial to my system then invest more into that aspect. Being that I lean more towards the technology side, that would my top priority for my budget. With training being me second priorityI would limit training to only focus on the aspects that technology lacks instead of training all aspects to stay in budget. For example, iPhones have ways in settings and updates that can fix issues, but if all fails there is a person that is specialized in my issue to resolve problems. So, with me putting most of my money into technology (technology can do more than the average person)and limiting my training, my budget will be balanced in addition to having effective security.
