Reflection 1

  1. With regard to your chosen seminar topic, what drew you to that particular topic? In choosing this topic, which of your previously taken courses do you anticipate will be most helpful to you in completing your seminar project.
  2. What is your assessment of your writing ability at this point? Do you feel well prepared for developing a term paper and oral presentation?

I’ve long decided on a career in veterinary sciences and so when asked for a seminar topic I naturally gravitated towards dogs or cats. With several dogs in my household and slowly learning about what would help them live a healthier life, animal nutrition centered around dog food naturally was the subject I decided on. None of my previous courses other than Animal Physiology were much help with this project in terms of specifics, but the general biology courses and research courses were helpful in finding sufficient data for my topic. Most of my writing tends to veer towards formal essay writing for analysis and so, as a starting point, I feel that I am well prepared for the paper, but my oral presentation would need work.
