Mr. Brunner Overview
John Brunner is the Associate Athletic Director for Facility/ Event Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill commonly known as (UNC). Mr.Brunner has served as the director of Athletic Event Management at UNC from 2006-2016 and prior to that he served as the assistant director of ticketing from 2003-2006. Mr.Brunner has earned his masters degree through UNC’s Sport Administration graduate program in 2003. Prior to Mr. Brunner full time role at UNC Athletics, he was interim director of athletic Event Management at Cornell University and worked in ticketing, marketing, and Facility Management with Harvard University athletic department.
Mr. Brunner also serves as a sport administrator for the UNC men’s lacrosse program and is an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Exercise & Sport Science at UNC. Mr. Brunner is married to his wife Michelle and has three daughters who are named Gianna, Isabela, and Savannah.
Mr. Brunner has had ton of experience working as a sport industry professional. The Athletic Event Management unit led the hosting efforts of 4 NCAA predetermined Championship events which were bid in 2019- Field hockey final four, Women’s soccer college cup, Men’s Golf Regional and Women’s lacrosse final four, and 2 ACC championships- ACC wrestling and ACC rowing. Each championship had outstanding performances and the feedback from fans, participants and championship administrators was positive.
The reason why I reached out to Mr. Brunner is because of his experience in my desired career field. My desired career field is to work in Athletic Event management / facility operations at a collegiate level. I was absolutely thrilled when Mr.Brunner was willing to connect with me. Mr. Brunner works at a school that hope to one day be at as well. UNC is a well known school for their athletics and they have the statistics to prove it. Having the opportunity to learn and communicate with an sport industry professional in my desire career field in an atmosphere that is highly ranked and accredited will only provide me with beneficial information moving forward.
