The major I am pursuing is dental hygiene. I chose my major due to the impactful experience with a dental hygienist upon my arrival in the US from Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, I didn’t receive proper dental care. However, my first US hygienist made the experience enjoyable by telling jokes and making me comfortable. During our session, she introduced me to some new equipment names and helped me improve my English vocabulary. Overall, she had a very positive impact on me and the career that I wanted to pursue. I want to help others the way she helped me.

Currently, I do not have any experience in the dental hygiene field. However, I am planning on gaining experience by either working or volunteering at a dental office in my hometown.
