Hello, my name is Mariah David and I am a senior at Old Dominion University. I am a sociology major; however, I also have an interest in psychology and have taken a substantial amount of additional courses Before my current position, I was working for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD). CHKD is a nonprofit that encompasses southeastern Virginia and North Carolina, a region that is home to approximately 500,000 children. After almost three years of making a difference with CHKD, I made the decision to begin working with Social Services as a Family Services Associate due to my desire to take on more responsibility and make an even bigger impact within society. My career history that has explored all realms of care reflect how impact driven I’ve always been and my willingness to take on challenges that promote social good.
During my professional journey I have also managed to network and successfully build many relationships. My success with building and maintaining relationships stems from my ability to surpass expectations, hit goals, and stay motivated under pressure. My abilities have also made me a great team player that is always searching for opportunities to collaborate on new techniques and ideas in creative environments. As a progressive professional that is nearing the completion of my social sciences degree that has a passion for social change and data research, I believe that I can bring valuable contributions to many teams. In my pursuit of new creative endeavors, I am very excited to discover the many opportunities my E-Portfolio will bring to me.
