Artifact 5
I chose this artifact because it represents who I am now. It was a good starting point for me to look at what makes me who I am and how culture plays a part in it. I learned that most of who I am and what I like can be pinned back to my culture based on what is appropriate and popular. Another thing I took away from this activity was the culture can play into people in ways that we don’t even notice for example one thing that is very popular and shapes someone’s personality in one country might not exist in another.
I chose this image because it represents so many aspects of who I am and how they relate to my culture. I think it is a fair representation of those aspects that my culture might have had an effect on.
Artifact 4
I particularly liked this artifact because I am always interested in what other people think about what genders they see in different jobs. It was particularly interesting to see that even though the partner I had was raised a different culture than I was we still had very similar responses. I also liked this artifact because it also shows that being raised in a similar generation can also impact the way we think and the preconceptions that we have. At my and my partner’s childhood there wasn’t really a surge of people fighting to work in certain industries like there is now. It really wasn’t talked about.

This image shows the result of the survey on whether jobs pertain to males or females. I chose it because it shows the similarities and differences.
Artifact 3
I reason that I chose this artifact is because it gave me perspective on how I came to be who I am. I lived in Mexico and it was rough. I got bullied and outcasted but I learned so much about their language and culture and that’s what I have taken from the experience. It has shown me not only the type of person I want to be, but also the type of teacher I want to be. None of the teachers or administrators at the school did anything and I want to be the teacher that helps and does something.
The visual representation I chose was a drawing of a very hard situation for me that I got over and shaped me into who I am today. I thought that it would be a good idea to kind of map out the important factor.
Artifact 2
I picked this artifact because I was shocked to see that none of the results shocked me. From my experience in Mexico I learned a lot about the culture and the people and a lot of it was good but there was a lot that needed to be fixed for the sake of their people. I also learned that the freedom we have in our culture in the United States can be a really great thing but at the same time it can be bad. People do what they want and others can be hurt by it or it can even affect their own life in a very negative way. I learned that just looking at the numbers isn’t the best way to determine what is better and what is worse.
I chose this representative visual image because it does a good job comparing the two cultures. I also like visual images because they help me understand the content better.
Artifact 1
I really liked this artifact. The activity gave me the chance to really look into what my parents did that affected me and where I stand on it now. I know that a lot of the values that my parents hold and passed to me are still with me and I still agree with them. I also learned that the values that my parents taught me growing up was not necessarily what they believed but rather what they had learned living in other countries and teaching me. I also learned that I’m very lucky because my parents are great people who hold values that make sense and I have learned have positive repercussions.
This image is important because these are my parents and the ones who had some of the most influence on my life. I hold so many of their morals. I wanted to show my parents because they have been a huge impact on who I am.
