A great advantage of using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is that is helps organizations better improve understanding and managing cybersecurity risk while at the same time supporting the organizations goals. From the reading, I learned that the framework is built around the foundations of the six core functions; govern, identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover. These six core functions are structured so that they allow all types of organizations to utilize them with ease.
In my future workplace, I would apply the NIST Cybersecurity Framework to help identify security risks and protect important systems and data. I would plan to prioritize security based on what is the highest risk in my workplace or the organizations itself and assist those priorities to ensure a safe and reliable system. I believe that the NIST framework is important and effective because it provides organizations with a clear and organized approach to managing cybersecurity risks, reduce risks, and improve security challenges.
