For this assignment we were tasked at participating in 5 random acts of kindness to strangers. Through this assignment I learned how such a small gesture can have a large impact. By doing random acts of kindness I learned that my day was made much better, and so was the person receiving the kindness. Additionally, it could have made that person want to be more kind to others because of my gesture.

This assignment can relate back to my ethics and morality in sports class. More specially, about morals which consist of people having good and bad charters. Through this assignment the class displayed a positive morality by spreading kindness to strangers, something we are not forced but choose to do. Personally, I find this assignment very relevant, because everyone could use a little bit of kindness in their day. I am very big on uplifting people, so I found this assignment amazing, and hope that others do too. This assignment has a lasting effect, because as we are forced out of our comfort zone to do something nice. The feeling of being nice to someone is contagious, because of this assignment I have notice myself naturally being more kind to others.

I include an image of over 50 different random acts of kindness that everyone can engage in.

I found it interest that the only style of love I was familiar with is mania. All the other styles were something new to me. However, in my health psychology we discuss mania, but in a difference context. While on the topic of mental health mania is extremely relevant especially regarding personality disorders. This assignment is very relevant in my life right now. Being as I just went through a bad break-up, I believe it was a very helpful assignment to be able to revaluated myself, and analyze4 how my love style could have effect the relationship. In return how I can fix and improve for the next time.

For this assignment were asked to determine out love style. To do it was required to complete the Styles of Love Questionnaire. We were asked a series of 42 questions to help determine our love style, then based on that we discussed our results. I learned a lot about myself during this assignment. I have a way of perceiving myself, but it was interesting to me how “science” has perceived my love style. The results opened my eyes to the way I truly am in a relationship verse how I think I am behaving.

I include a image of the different love styles and how well they interact, because I found it interesting how that could be determined

For this assignment we were asked to review a video from Michael Richards stand up. During this video Richards using an amble amount of racial slurs, and the crowds as their opinions about it. We were asked to analyze his outburst and discuss whether he wad truly being racist or just has anger problems. Through this assignment I learned that no matter how progressive our society has and will become, prejudice and racist people will still be around.

During my introduction to psychology we discussed the issues of racism and prejudice and what may cause people to be like that. I used that information to help while analyzing Richard’s action. This assignment was extremely relevant to me. I am a white female who grew up in a predominately black area in Philadelphia. Watching the video of Richard’s was jaw dropping to me. Being a white person I would never dare use that word, especially around black people.

I included a meme of Drake to visually display the difference between white and black people saying the n word.

For assignment two we were tasked at reflecting on a group of 6-12 photos that represent our self. This assignment required us to analysis our self, and to explain how the selected pictures represent who we are. This assignment gave me a better understanding of the way I may be perceived by others. This assignment required me to think deeper about the meaning behind the picture I take or am in. When analysis myself I thought of certain questions such as, why did I take this picture, how did I feel in this moment and if I was with other people who they are to me.

This assignment remained me of learning about perception in my Human Cognition class. Perception is the way we interpret something, and everyone perceives stuff differently. Although I may believe to come across one way through my picture, somebody else may have a different interpretation of the picture. This assignment is extremely relevant in the world we live it, being how huge social media is. Now, people are constantly being viewed and judged by the pictures they chose to share with the world. Since we have to ability to choose which photos we display to the world, we have more control of influencing the way other perceive us. For example, if we want people to think we love animals then our post would mostly consist of us with animals.

I wanted to include a picture that I mentioned in my assignment. This picture represents the importance that of being an older sister.

For our first assignment we were asked to explain the four types of heuristics, give an example and express the negative aspect of heuristics. This assignment reflected on representativeness heuristics, which suggest that when humans judge each other they automatically put others into groups at which they are most similar to based on prototypes. A downfall of representativeness heuristic is that when making judgments humans will tend to only consider the personality traits of individual and not think of any outside factors or base rates. The availability heuristic implies that humans make judgements based on the information that immediately comes to the forefront of their minds. The problem with that is the thoughts being brought to the forefront are usually very extreme and unlikely scenarios. Anchoring and adjustment heuristic starts with a base number or set value, then humans can adjust that number or value when making the best decision. Unfortunately, with anchoring and adjustments it tends to leave people lazy, because they do not have to put in effort when making decisions. Lastly, is the status quo heuristics which explains that people tend to make decisions based on what they already know and enjoy. This can have negative effects because people will not try new things, or adjust their thoughts since they only stick to what they are used to.

The idea of heuristics reminds me of the placebo effect. Both the placebo effect and heuristics are shortcuts or tricks that our mind plays on us. With heuristics, specifically availability heuristic, our minds tend to believe the information we hear most often. With the placebo effect our mind starts to believe that something could be a real medical treatment, such as a sugar pill, when in fact there is zero medical aid within that treatment. Both these ideas lead our minds to believe something is true, when in reality it is not. Heuristics are very relevant in our world today, being that media is huge. Media has a major influence on heuristics since people are being exposed to more information at their fingertips. With the recent passing of NBA star, Kobe Bryant, I have noticed something relating to availability heuristic. Since Kobe died tragically in a helicopter accident, and that is all the news and social media has covered for the past week, all of a sudden people have gained a fear of helicopters. The image I included perfectly represents availability heuristic. It demonstrates how if you dangle something right in front of their face, that person likely to base their answer on what is right in front of their face.
