I started my internship with Custom Truck One Source on May 8th, 2023, as an IT Intern. My goals for this summer are to learn as much valuable information as possible whether it’s mainly about cyber security or just valuable information about life. Whatever it is, I’m ready and eager to learn as much as I can. On my first day, I came to work nervously filled with butterflies, ensuring I didn’t mess anything up. When I walked in, I was greeted by all my new coworkers and was brought to my own office with everything already set up for me. Right away all my nervousness went out the window. I felt welcomed into my new job and was already extremely happy to be working there.
My first week went very well. I watched a lot of training videos on the program we use called M3 which is the database system for the entire company where all the employees who have access to it go on there and complete their daily duties. I also got to see the whiteboard they have for me which has all the things they have planned for me as I start the internship, and it was listed as follows: cleanup M3, ensure all employees have the correct access to M3, make sure employees don’t have a surplus of programs they shouldn’t be accessing, entering Active Directory and creating new usernames for the employees who need one, and making sure nobody has sys_admin who shouldn’t have it. As the 2 weeks went by, I just continued doing those daily duties and whatever else my manager had for me. I have learned so much already and I am happy to be working specifically on the application security side of the company because that falls under the description of Cybersecurity.
