As I started my third week at Custom Truck One Source, I was feeling very comfortable and happy to come to work. They have me doing a lot more in-depth work now since I am getting the hang of all the controls and programs in the company. I was just assigned this long-term project by my manager. It is an 11,500 row excel spreadsheet with every user in M3 in the company and my job is to go through every user on that sheet and mark if they have the correct access depending on their title or if they need to have certain roles removed from their M3 account because their title in the company doesn’t allow them to have that much access. Some users take a lot of research though. I have to go on Active Directory sometimes to see where they are located because multiple titles are the same but with different roles depending on their location in the company. With Active Directory, I can see where they are located and whom they report to and such to confirm they are 100% accurate in the M3 database.
To some, that sounds awful having to do that, but I really enjoy it because it allows me to learn all the titles in the company and the roles that apply to those titles. I am also getting trained on how to use Zendesk. That is our ticketing system where employees go to submit issues they are having. For me, my manager is only training me on the tickets that apply to the application security side of the company. For example, I had a ticket where a user was requesting access to use sys_admin. For me, that would fall under the category of application security due to how high-risk that role is for the company. And I have to do a lot of background checks on that user to confirm that are allowed to have that. Everything is just so intriguing to me I am enjoying it a lot.
