Below are some of the key artifacts from my academic work at ODU. Each one is connected to one or more of my core skills and reflects a stage in my growth as a thinker, writer, and communicator.

Fan Fiction – Beloved Reimagined (ENGL 114L) Skill: Communication

In this creative project, I reimagined Toni Morrison’s Beloved in a futuristic 2093 setting. The assignment required me to understand Morrison’s themes of grief, memory, and the trauma of slavery, and to translate them into an entirely new narrative context. This project demonstrated my ability to communicate complex emotional content through storytelling.

Reflection Essay – Beloved (ENGL course) Skill: Critical Thinking

This essay examined Morrison’s portrayal of memory, trauma, and the enduring effects of slavery. Writing it required me to move beyond summary into genuine analysis – asking not just what Morrison wrote, but why and how it works on the reader.

WordPress Site – Women Veterans (ENGL 307T) Skills: Communication, Leadership.

This site was dedicated to telling the stories of women veterans. As a Navy veteran myself, this was a deeply personal project. It reflects both my communication skills (writing and digital publishing) and my commitment to leadership through storytelling.
