From Assignment 3, I received the chance to view Michael Richard’s highly inappropriate and disgusting tirade. I learned that some people’s racist remarks can come from deep seated hatred or pure anger towards a certain race. This assignment was relevant to me, because I have experienced racism due to my ethnic background. Some people in society tend to isolate me and degrade me simply due to my race. This assignment really hit home to me, because like many, Richards strongly believed that speaking to a man of color in such an impolite manner is acceptable and appropriate in society. Although they never really vanished, prejudice and racist acts are becoming more and more common in today’s society. Individuals in our nation should really take this issue seriously, because it will only get worse over time.

I chose this very powerful illustration, because it shows that people of all color can be united and reside in peace and harmony together. If people of all races work together, instead of fighting one another, then the world would become a better place to live in. Setting this kind of example and mindset for the younger generations will only help our community thrive in the future.
