Be inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success
In the fall of 2022, I was selected to be part of this great association. As seen below, upon completing the NSLS chapter, we had a graduation to give us our certificates, and personally, the advisor and president of the NSLS chapter congratulated me and welcomed me. Being part of this association is an achievement made real that all the effort and dedication of all these years at the university have been worth it. According to the requirements to be part of this association, The National Society of Leadership and Success, outstanding academic performance here at Old Dominion University, including being part of NSLS, allows you to be nominated by other associations. For example, the advantage of being nominated in NSLS is that you are also nominated for membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). The NSCS nomination is an elite organization of high-achieving first- and second-year college students. Only about a few students nationwide are nominated. It is an honor to know that I was chosen by NSLS. To be part of it, you have to complete several categories that make you a leader and also help you be successful in your professional and personal life. It is an unforgettable emotion to have been invited to officially join NSLS. The process I went through was taking courses and listening to leaders in the business world. At the same time, you share your goals with other people, and they make you take a quiz where you find out what kind of leader you are. In this way, I was earning a place as a member of NSLS by completing each step. This experience definitely enriched me as a professional with the knowledge of how to be a leader, help others become one, and be able to self-evaluate my goals for the future.
Be inducted into Phi Eta Sigma.
Being part of the Phi Eta Sigma association is not easy. You need to meet some requirements to be part of this great organization. Being part of it is an academic achievement that I never thought I would achieve. After just one semester at ODU, I was invited and nominated to be part of this great association in Fall 2021. One of the most important requirements is to be a first-year student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. After meeting these requirements, they contact you so you can apply and be nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society—Phi Eta Sigma. In Fall 2021, it was one of my best semesters since it was an immense honor to be chosen to officially become a member and start participating in the different events that they have as an organization to help the community. One of the events I was part of was volunteering to read books to children on Reading Day. At that time, it was done online because, due to the pandemic, we were still in protection. To this day, I have always been very active in this association, going to meetings, doing volunteer work within the community and at the university, and in the chat. The experience that this association leaves is incredible, since it encourages us to become better people every day by supporting our community and being better leaders for the world. After five years of being a student at ODU and 4 years of being part of this association, I look back and definitely being part of it has helped me to do better every day and improve my leadership.
Be recognized for my excellent Academic Performance.
Being part of this great academic achievement that, with my effort, dedication, sleepless nights, learning, and knowledge, Housing & Residence Life has given me by recognizing my academic performance every semester during the five years I have been a student at ODU. This great achievement has been given to me in Fall 2021, Fall 2023, and Fall 2024. It is a great honor to be recognized by the university and for them to observe every sacrifice, hard work, and long hours of dedication in each semester that I put in, and above all, the effort to always move forward with each class getting the best grades. Being part of this great recognition among so many students within the university and standing out, being different, dedicating myself to just studying, and completing my university degree is an academic achievement that makes me feel very proud of myself for all that I have done to be the best student possible. Some of the requirements to obtain this great recognition are that in each semester you must obtain a grade of 3.4 or more to obtain the certificate, and this happens each semester depending on your GPA. These five years have not been easy. Since I started at ODU, every semester I have taken 6 to 7 classes maximum, and every summer I have taken 4 classes, and for the university to see all this great effort that I have put in every semester, life and heart to keep moving forward, is an experience, satisfaction, and motivation to get ahead.
