Reflection-Reflexión

English Version:

Hello everyone! My name is Lizbeth Martinez Piche. I am a student in Spanish class 311 that Professor Paula Álvaro taught. Speaking Spanish or another language tends to be difficult at first, but as we learn and talk about it becomes easier and even if we share that passion of learning another language with other people. This class is designed to be able to develop our way of expressing ourselves when speaking, giving a speech, and learning grammar. When I first read the syllabus, I thought it was going to be a class where the interaction with the other students was going to be minimal or even none since online courses tend to create this sense of more individual work than group work. However, to my surprise, it was the complete opposite. The way in which Professor Álvaro included the FLIP platform and the VHL Central program made it possible for us to have an interaction similar to if we were in person. Exchanging thoughts, conversing, and learning grammar are great ways to learn from others and even from their multicultural ideas to the perspective of seeing specific issues that affect us daily. So this class helped me to:

  1. Develop more my conversational skills.
  2. To control the time to speak.
  3. To control my breathing before, during, and after a speech.
  4. Improve my grammar
  5. Improve my speaking skills
  6. Learn to capture other people’s ideas

Apart from developing, learning, and improving my public speaking knowledge in Spanish, I want to share my work with you.
In this case, we can see the five different themes developed on the FLIP platform. Apart from being able to put our thoughts, we could also respond to other people since that is how this interaction between us was generated. Similarly, we have our exams. In this case, I have put the oral exam five and 4, which are based on topics according to what was developed in that unit and even what the teacher taught us. At the bottom, we have audio, which are small grammar tests that help us to be able to speak correctly and use either the present, past, or future according to the topics or what we want to express. Finally, we have group conversations, in this case, I am with my partner Ashleigh, who was sharing her thoughts with me, and we were exchanging a little on specific topics according to the VHL Central platform.
