The CIA Triad is an acronym for confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Confidentiality in cybersecurity is the concept that private information is only seen by authorized users. With integrity being consistent in showing accurate data. While availability is having the data being accessible when needed. According to Anirudh Khana in Securing an Enterprise. “The CIA Triad principles are essential because they address the compressive needs of digital information security.” The CIA Triad is the key principle for cybersecurity without it data would not be able to navigate safely.
Authorization and Authentication
Authentication is verifying who is trying to see the data. Authorization determines what data is presented and what actions the user can do. For example, a child under their parent\legal guardian for a bank account. When the child uses the app or at the bank, the child will verify that they are them, but due to the authorization limitations of being a dependent on a bank account actions such as withdrawal and moving money around are limited to their bank account while the owner of the account can move money freely between all accounts including the child.
