About Me

My name is Matthew Burd, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University (ODU). I began my academic journey at Central Virginia Community College (CVCC), where I dual-enrolled during high school to study Cybersecurity Fundamentals. While at CVCC, I completed coursework in programming and computer science, including C++ and Python. After earning my Associate’s degree in General Education, I transferred to ODU to further my education in Cybersecurity, with plans to possibly pursue a Master’s degree in the future.

Personal Background

My passion for technology started at a young age, as I developed a strong interest in computers. Alongside my academic pursuits, I have always been active in physical activities. Growing up, I played soccer and transitioned to track and cross-country during high school, focusing on endurance and leg-intensive sports. More recently, I have taken up kickboxing and airsoft. Kickboxing, in particular, has been a transformative activity for me. It has not only improved my physical fitness but also instilled discipline, confidence, and focus—qualities that have significantly contributed to my academic and personal growth.

I look forward to applying my skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to the field of cybersecurity.
