Technology can be seen as an extension of humans. Changes in technology influence all aspects of society and there is a strong connection between tech and psychology.

As of 2021, 79% of people have a social media account. Social media has become a part of our daily lives allowing people to become victims of attacks such as cyber bullying.

Fake news is false or misleading information presented as news. It often has the aim of damaging the reputation of a person or entity, or making money through advertising revenue. Nowadays it is becoming harder to tell the real news from the fake news. Social media is a factor that plays a big role especially in sites like Facebook and Twitter, allowing people to become misinformed.

Social engineering is the psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or divulging confidential information. A common social engineering attack is “Phishing”. This is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

Internet addiction can be see as the compulsive need to spend a great deal of time on the Internet, to the point where relationships, work and health are allowed to suffer. As technology continues to grow, internet addiction will grow also. Victims of this addiction suffer from social anxiety and even physically with weight loss/gain.
