Journal Entry #3-PrivacyRights.org

The site, Privacyrights.org, provides a wealth of information regarding data breaches. From most of what I’ve read, the site covers several different ways to interact with data breaches that researchers can learn plenty from. What stuck out to me the most was having a well developed Incident Response Plan. This information would be valuable for researchers because the article actually provided 5 very descriptive points on the subject. 1) The Incident Response Plan must come from the top at the executive level. 2) The plan must include 1st responders in order to manage any breaches that may happen. 3) Be proactive instead of reactive in the event of a breach. 4) Have an additional communications plan. 5) Be prepared to offer credit monitoring services. If researchers were to apply these principles to data breaches, this would do a lot to aid different organizations in making them more secure.
