Journal Entry 11:
A cybersecurity analyst is the first line of defense in a company’s network. With that being said cybersecurity analyst is a broad title, with different roles and specific job titles for each different job listing. Several themes within these jobs are consistent with each one and are essential to getting a job in this field. Critical thinking is essential in almost any job, it is very close to common sense except it relates to what you have learned through study which allows you to calculate, analyze, and come up with a solution in a more intricate way rather than just saying something like “I am hungry therefore I should eat” like common sense would, I think problem-solving skills also ties into critical thinking. Two more skills necessary for most jobs are communication and teamwork skills. Being able to communicate is needed to communicate with those around you especially your employers so it is necessary to be able to do it effectively. Teamwork is relevant in almost all cybersecurity jobs as it allows you to ask questions with co-workers and leads to further educational development. On top of that, teamwork allows everyone involved to progress and achieve a common goal together.
