In the article, the author Mr. Agricultural focuses on the good reasons of why weed should be legalized across the United States. He gives off a perspective view of how marijuana could be used in a good way, also how it can help out of an individual tremendously. His reasoning for the legalization is because prohibition has never been reliably shown to reduce drug use. If prohibition accomplished anything, it created an underground black market, created a new drug ring, and wasted valuable time for law enforcement. He also believes that the effect prohibition has on whether or not a person will even try it. When something’s illegal, it creates something called the “forbidden fruit effect”, provoking people to try it. His final reason is unintended effect of prohibition is that it destroys all possible ways to regulate the substance since it’s illegal. It’s easier for high schools student to illegally obtain marijuana from drug dealers than it is for high school students to illegally get their hands on alcohol, because alcohol is regulated. The audience that he is intended to persuade is those who oppose the topic, it’s always good to know what the opposing side is thinking as I had mentioned before. Pathos definitely used throughout the article because he used example from his personal life which made him feel a certain way. He mentioned that his mom was suffering and in an incredible amount of pain. Your doctor told you there was a drug that could stop her pain, but for political reasons, he couldn’t prescribe it. This drug is marijuana. The author really went deep with expressing her opinion and I believe her real personal examples made the article more persuading. “A drug like marijuana would help out in the strangest ways, just have to give it a chance to understand”.

The author thinks marijuana should be legalized across the United States. He has many reason that supports the reason why he believes marijuana should be legalized. Sated in his article “Marijuana should not be put under the same category as these drugs. It should be under the category that includes alcohol, tobacco, and even sugar. These drugs are more commonly related to marijuana than hard drugs”. Some of the reason why the author felt that weed should be legal is that it’s a lot safer and harder to overdose than alcohol. Another reason is that he  believes that if weed was legalized it would keep kids off the streets and away form drug that are harmful. Lastly, Another very good reason to legalize marijuana is how much it could save our government money, and maybe even make money out of it. Marijuana is very hard on our justice system financially. If the policy was changed and it was legalized it could be taxed and used for government funding The author’s purpose for writing this way was to express his reasons on why he feels marijuana should be legalized. People have different reasons and different opinions on every broad topic. Its beneficial to hear both sides of a topic so you know what people are considering and thinking when they talk about the topic. The reason I considered this article because he said “ If weed  was legal it would keep a lot of people off of the streets and getting in trouble”. Some people bodies really needs the drug because certain chemicals in the drug help with symptoms and diagnosis. Not saying that it would completely help them out but it would in a way. You’re never supposed to depend on a drug to help your problem but this drug is something that could save and changes people live in a good way.

The article is an opinion that talks about why marijuana should not be legalized. The author believes Marijuana users have a higher risk of cancer than cigarette smokers. Also he believes that after a few minutes of smoking marijuana, your heart beats faster and your blood pressure drops because of lower blood pressure and higher heart rate. The research that he found out was that marijuana users have a four times higher chance of a heart attack within the first hour of smoking marijuana. His belief of legalizing marijuana would lead to negative effects on families. Also he believes that Also there is going to be easier access to marijuana, and it will be cheaper to buy. These same things happened when alcohol was legalized.Marijuana use at work and school lessons from 13.6% in 1988, to 3.8% in 2006, according to USA Today. Marijuana use basically got smaller after it was legalized. Also, younger teens will use it. Parents will use it and give bad example to younger kids and teens, and parents will use it and become high around their kids. Marijuana affects teens and their ability to concentrate in school, and drug-using parents will neglect or abuse their children. If marijuana stays illegal, these negative effects will lessen. The author’s intended to persuade the audience who are on the opposing side. The purpose of this writing was it to inform people on why he has that certain opinion towards marijuana legalization. He talked about the studies made by researchers that made him decide that it shouldn’t be allowed. He mentioned a lot of things that would give readers a good view point on view he doesn’t agree with it being legal. The pathos of this article was perfect it showed a lot of good reason why weed should not be legalized and the negative effects it has on the society.

Lopez, German. “The Case against Marijuana Legalization.” Vox, 27 Mar. 2014, www.vox.com/cards/marijuana-legalization/case-against-marijuana-legalization.

The author thinks that marijuana shouldn’t be legalized across the United States. The claim the author came to make was why he believes that marijuana shouldn’t be legalized across the United States. He has many reason to support his thoughts on the situation. As said in the article “if we were a country with a history of being able to promote moderation in our consumers use of products, or if we had history of being able to take taxes gained from a vice and redirect them into some positive area” the U.S. as a whole would have outstanding revenue.  In the article he focuses on the drug policy and how much marijuana people are using over the years. He also believes that legalizing weed across the U.S. would make pot far too accessible and it would expand its use and misuses. Lopez also talked about putting state governments in charge of marijuana production and sales, which could tame the for-profit incentive and give state more direct control over prices. His main concern about marijuana being legalized is that the same thing that happened with Cigarettes, and Alcohol would put the same effect on marijuana being legalized. The purpose of this writing was to inform readers on why he has this strong opinion towards marijuana not be legalized across the U.S. He also mentioned things that he thinks needs to be ensured before the government would even think about legalizing it. He do believe that if that it should only be prescribed to you instead of recreational uses. I think Lopez was rhetorical appeal used in this article. The way he presented his argument was outstanding. The way he presented his argument was conspicuous. Having reasons to support your topic of choice is what makes people gravitate toward even considering your opinion, they want to see the facts you have to prove that your opinion is the best.
