Marijuana Legalization

Marijuana is one the most common drugs used in the United States. Marijuana has become one of the biggest industry since becoming legalized in a few states. Weed is an annual plant originally from Central asia that has been used for medical purposes for at least 3,000 years. The drug has been shown to manage nausea and weight loss, and can be used to treat glaucoma. Medical marijuana is also reported to help patients suffering from pain and wasting syndrome associated with HIV, as well as irritable bowel syndrome and diseases (NIDA). Lately the drug has begun investigated in cancer patients as a way to alleviate the side effects of cancer therapy. Also numerous studies showed that Cannabinoids know as THC has a positive effect on food consumption and human trials.

Marijuana is looked as a substance with little risk of harm, But research shows that weed does more damage than people may really know. Researcher said “It has been known to be an addictive drug that leads to needing to everyday instead of trying occas”(Leah). Weed has affected many people performance at school, work, socializing, physical health, mental health, and intellectual abilities. Marijuana has some crazy side effects and one of the common ones are Short-term physical health. Research show’s heart rate for as long a three hours after smoking; bloodshot eyes; impaired movement; and dry mouth (Leah).

Research shows that marijuana helps prevent a lot of these common disorders. The relaxing effects of marijuana helps people with depression, social anxiety, and post- traumatic stress disorder. A recent study published in “Drug and Alcohol Dependence” also found that very low dose of THC, one of the main compounds found in marijuana helped people feel less nervous about a public speaking task. The dose was equal to only a few puffs on a marijuana joint. Researcher Emma Childs, “indicates that cannabis could be helpful for people with anxiety”. Marijuana is used for pain relief because it make the human brain forget what the problem at the moment. Marijuana products also appear to be effective at claiming muscle spasms caused by multiple sclerosis like easing nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy.

Marijuana come with different side effect that can become very deadly and could kill an individual. Most of the THC known as (Tetrahydrocannabinol) effects the brain where the chemical interacts with sensors in brain cell. The human body actually make chemicals that are very similar to THC, they are used in the normal brain function and development. Researchers show that the ingredient called “Hippocampus” tends to alter the way information is processed and how memories are formed. That causes the memory formation to have a late development in adulthood if used in early stage. Marijuana has a huge impact on the human brain can effects in ways people feel as if it is harmless to them.

Therefore, marijuana has its pros and cons that affect the human body in many ways. Some can be harmless and the other can be very dangerous. The different strains and amount of THC is what affects the body. It is up to the person who is participating in activities to know about what chemical that they are in-taking. It’s very important because your body may not accept it and could make people very sick. For the most part you can’t die from the drug it could make you feel sick or a strange side effect.
