I’ve noticed personally that when I share my music with others it directly correlates to my confidence in my music selections and also how close I am, or want to be with that specific person. Music is a big part of who I am and through that I feel the lyrics very deeply. Which in turn is why I am drawn to deep, meaningful lyrics. I am a christian and mainly listen to contemporary christian music and gospel music. So, when I share music with others now if they don’t like it, I understand that it is not their preference and I try to switch up the style of christian music but don’t stray away from what’s comfortable to me. With that, I found that people respect me and my music choice more when I stand up for what I want and care to listen to! I also found that those who do enjoy the same music choices as me or similar, I am able to easily connect and identify with them. Moreover, I do believe in the theory that there is a connection between music and relationships. Music bonds, whether it be to other people, moments, or a higher power (in my case God).

Social psychology is everything I expected to be and more! These course objectives give insight and sincere excitement for the journey I’m going to take this semester. Each course objective has a unique topic and perspective I believe they are going to give me. From what I’ve read, by the end of this course I will be able to have a more in depth understanding of  how social psychologists conduct research and experiments. The best part of this course is how intentional it’s going to be about learning how every single factor from personal to environmental factors have an impact on our social interactions. That is what I am most excited because of how invested and intrigued I already am about forming close and lasting relationships.

Through this course I am hoping to gain insight into how best to influence and develop close relationships with others. In life we are in a constant cycle of learning, exploring, and growing into better versions of ourselves. There isn’t any given point where we have “made it” or have finally developed into the person we are meant to be. I believe that we are simply growing and changing, and evolving until the day we die. We will always have room to grow. No one has it all figured out, but through classes like this it makes it easier to attain wisdom in knowledge in such a powerful area of our lives. I enjoy have I view myself and others. Because its helped me to try my best to not limit anyone or myself to the circumstances of now.

Strategies I look to implement for success in this course are the following: monday and wednesdays I plan to review and take notes on materials we are to learn for the week, and then after that on wednesday after I’m done my plan is to write out a draft for whatever blog post or assignment is due. Or simply read over instructions for assignments and come up with a plan to tackle each task. What has helped me tremendously throughout the last two semesters of online school is planning and being flexible. My hopes for this course is to make good use of my time as well as apply what I learn in this class to my real-life relationships.
