The article, Social Cybersecurity an Emerging National Security Requirement, takes an in depth look into what’s known as social cybersecurity. Social cybersecurity addresses how through social media platforms influence can be made onto the public and personal opinion of a topic. By using these platforms to manipulate or spread false information allows for a group to possibly gain an edge in the media or public opinion. Instead of hacking computers this is the method that is most commonly used to hack the publics opinion. This is often used to push a hidden agenda that most have no idea they are getting manipulated into believing. Whether this is used to dirty a political candidate’s reputation or to validate a countries personal agenda it is a growing trend in media platforms. The speed at which this information spreads makes it difficult to fact check and contain. Hince that users of social media should take this information and do their own research before taking it for the truth.
