Acts of Kindness- I choose this image because I think serving or giving to others is a prerequisite to leadership.

I think that this assignment was my favorite because it was able to interact with others in a positive light. The purpose of this assignment was to interact with random individuals and participate in random acts of kindness. Each day I found a new way to be a blessing to a total stranger and I can honestly say that the results were impactful. Throughout the entire week, I felt like I was pouring back into others in a positive light and it made me feel better about myself. This assignment reminded me of a concept that I learned in African American Psychology about the family systems back in Africa. We talked about how the competition was eliminated because everyone was responsible for helping one another. If all of America adopted this mindset of kindness then the world would be a better place because what you put in the atmosphere comes back to you. So, if most people are putting out positivity and kindness then that energy would take over the world. This assignment made me hopeful for the future and gave me insight into some things that can be put in motion to negate the negative cloud that hovers over the world.

I choose this image because the true example of love is Jesus Christ.

This assignment was all about love styles, in order to complete this assignment I had to complete a love style questionnaire. The questionnaire tested six different love styles; Eros, Ludus, Storge, Pragma, Mania, and Agape. Each love style is built on different foundations and after completion of the test, I was able to determine my love style. My love style was a mixture of Storge and Agape love which is a love built on selflessness and friendship. I wrote in my paper that I was familiar with Agape love because it is often mentioned in Christianity. The picture above illustrates that Jesus Christ is the true testament of Agape love because he gave his life so that humanity could live.  This assignment was eye-opening because it confirmed my wants and my dislikes concerning love styles. I also enjoyed this assignment because he reminded me that Jesus Christ is love and there is no love greater.

The Self- This image shows that the self is made up of 3 different things; Self-concept, perceived self-control, and self-presentation

This assignment served the purpose of examining the self and how there are multiple aspects that create the overall self. I learned about the three branches of self. First, the self-concept which answers the question, who am I? Next, perceived self-control which is the idea that one is in control of their lives and the outcomes that come along with it. Finally, self-presentation, which is the way that one presents herself or himself to society, usually all the good traits. I also learned about these aspects particularly self- concept in my psychology of sex class. I read about how self-concept affected sexual comfortability and identity, which was pretty interesting. In close, it is obvious that the self is a topic that needs attention throughout one’s lifespan to ensure personal success. This assignment helped me to have a moment of intimacy in which I was able to internally search my self to find out what I am made of. Usually, I do not have the time to focus on myself, but this assignment allowed me to do so.

Follow The Truth- The truth will guide you through even the bumpiest roads

After completing assignment number one my takeaway deals mostly with the status quo heuristic and how it is present in my everyday life. I began to think about this specific heuristic for a week and how it impacts the way I think and make decisions.  It turns out that the majority of what I do revolves around the status quo or opinions of society. Sometimes I am fearful of progressing to new things or going down a different path because it isn’t popular in society. I learned in Psychology of African Americans some of the greatest heroes in America went against the grain and abandoned the status quo in order to reach new heights. To defeat this heuristic I believe it is important to be guided by the truth and the dreams that one has for their life. I picked the picture above because the truth will always lead you towards the light, I am determined to follow the truth and recommend for you to do the same.
