For assignment number 5 I was to talk about 5 different good deeds I did for strangers over the course of a week. I learned that being selfless can cause a person to feel like they are on top of the world. This assignment personally made me feel very good about myself knowing that I was able to positively affect someone’s life even if it was in the smallest way possible.

For assignment number 4 I took a style of love questionnaire and then had to explain what type of lover there is as well as what type I am. I really felt like I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from it. I learned what type of lover I am and I was able to connect that to past relationships I have had.
Taking this test reminded me of taking personality tests or career tests, but instead different type of ways people love. I learned that I was mostly an Eros lover meaning I love romance and am passionate about being in love. Reflecting on past relationships I would say i did act very loving and was all about romance.

For the third assignment, we were to watch a video of Michael Richards tirade that took place in a comedy night club. During his stand up comedy performance, a video was taken of Richards calling out racist names and it seems as though he has gone into. rage and does not care about what he is saying. I learned from this assignment that a person’s actions can stem from a lot of things. In Richards’s case, he may have been raised to think a certain way and perhaps has some type of anger management issues.
I have always realized that the way people handle certain situations usually comes from how they were brought up but this assignment really opened my eyes up to how prejudice can be linked with opinion and attitude. I don’t agree that people should get passes for saying racist things just because they might be angry or are just used to being able to say certain words without backlash. Hearing Richards say those words and be able to claim that he is not racist and that it came from rage angered me because it’s truly not hard to not be racist, people just choose to be nowadays.

For the first assignment in this class we learned about Heurstics and what they are and do for people. We learned that there are four different types of Heuristics and that humans use them every single day as kind of shortcuts for making decisions. These four include Representativeness heuristic, Availability heuristic, Anchoring & adjustment heuristic, and Status Quo heuristic. The assignment required us to educate ourselves about the four heurstics and give an original example of how people make decisions and how this may lead to making incorrect inferences.
I feel that this assignment opened my eyes up to why and how people make the decisions they do. Learning about these heuristics makes me feel that I have a better understanding with other people and what their decision making is based on. I’ve always paid attention to the status quo ever since I watched High School Musical and heard the song about it. I often see on social media how many people tend to follow the status quo whether that be clothing or even just opinions on things.

I chose this image because I feel like it reflects on what Heuristics in society is like today. People tend to make observations and judgments based off of others and what is going on in society.
