This section explores my development and competency using different qualitative analytical methods.

This document analysis was written for ENGL 334: Technical Writing. I analyzed the document design for Lifenet Health’s instructions for cryopreserved cardiac and vascular allografts, identified the document’s weaknesses , and provided suggestions to strengthen the design. This project taught me how to provide constructive feedback which is a valuable skill because it demonstrates that I not only can identify weaknesses, but I can develop resolutions.

The above artifact is a critical discourse analysis written for ENGL 370: Linguistics. The assignment incorporated discourse framework to identify biases toward women through the author’s societal/cultural identity and word choice. Critical discourse analysis is a valuable skill to have because it critiques the power dynamics in society through spoken language, visuals, and written documents which allows us to identify how these power dynamics may impact how a speaker or author chooses their target audience, how they communicate with them, and present information.

The last artifact in this section is a rhetorical analysis and apologia which was written for ENGL 325: Rhetorical Studies. I examined the rhetorical strategies that the organ procurement organization LiveOnNY used in their social media campaign meant to persuade New Yorkers to register themselves as an organ donor. This was my favorite assignment because it incorporated my industry knowledge and academic coursework, and allowed me to develop my own rhetorical theory based on my experiences, scholarship, and, conceptualizations.
